As I move towards a greener lifestyle, one easy change has been those fun reusable grocery bags you see absolutely everywhere. They’re beyond perfect for grocery shopping (duh) and we use them near-daily for just about everything you can imagine. My Kroger bags have served as diaper bags, gift bags (just call me Martha) and of course a purse on more than one occasion.
So when I heard about Kroger’s latest go-green efforts, I was uber excited. They are asking their valued customers to design the next reusable grocery bags to be sold in their stores. Fun or flirty, sassy and smart, you design the bag you want to be seen around town with. You could be the next Louis Vuitton and win some serious loot to boot.
Go to Kroger’s site. They have this terrific design tool complete with fonts, stickers, borders and more. You can upload your own pictures even! It’s easy and fun – take a look at the bag I whipped up (with little to no actual artistic talent):

And if you love love love your bag like I do, you can click over to Cafe Press through the Kroger site and order your very own. Christmas IS just around the corner after all.

You can design bags and vote now through May 15th, so head on over. Prizes will be awarded for the top ten designs and one designer will win a $1,000 Kroger gift card and might just have their design SOLD IN STORES.
Added bonus: When you do your bag design, if you enter your Kroger Plus Card number, you can get a FREE Kroger reusable bag on your next trip to the store!
But Kroger’s wants to get the generosity flowing early and spread the word about this contest and their priority to go green in style, so they’ve given me some sweetener for the deal.
Go over to the site, click through the wonderful bags folks have designed and tell me your favorite (it can be your own design of course!). Each bag has an id number, you can simply leave that number here in the comments along with your email or means to contact you. No extra credit will be awarded for choosing, say *MY* bag – #43696, but while you are there, you can totally vote for it, just sayin’ – #43696. I’ll pick two lucky winners at random to win a $25 gift card each.
One extra entry if you tweet this contest. Just leave another comment with a link to your tweet.
If you do design one of your own, I’d love to see it and send you some voting love, so keep me posted. Now get to work!
CONTEST ENDS: Sunday, May 10th at Midnight (EST)

We don’t have a Kroger so I don’t want a contest entry, but I went to check the interface out. Very cool promo. I voted for your cute bag, too! Looks like you can vote every day.

How cool that you can design your own bag! I actually have a giveaway going on over at my place for a trendy reusable bag. http://www.melsboxofchocolates.com/2009/05/goody-green-bag-giveaway.html I’m trying to get better at using mine and not forgetting them all the time.
By the way, I’m visiting from the Walk-It Blog-It group. It’s nice to meet you. I’m adding you to my reader right now so I won’t miss an update. Very cute blog you have!!
Have a great week.
